Pile Burning Workshop, Saturday, 2/7 10 AM - 2 PM Burning is a great way to reduce fuels, especially dead or old branches and small logs—particularly if you have a lot of ladder fuels to remove and don’t have easy access to green waste removal. Led by Dario Davidson, Wildfire-Ready Coalition lead forester volunteer, and Haley Coopergard from the Resource Conservation District. How to Write a Simple Burn Plan Workshop, Thursday, 2/12, 5 PM - 7 PM Learn about everything needed to have a safe and successful burn plan that meets CAL FIRE permitting requirements, using the California Standardized Prescribed Fire burn plan template. Prepare to Burn / Conduct a Burn Workshop, Saturday & Sunday, 2/21&22, at 10:00 AM This hands-on workshop on how to prepare a site for a prescribed burn will be led by NCRCD Prescribed Fire Educator Haley Coopergard. Note: Weather depending, this workshop may be a live prescribed fire, a pile burning demonstration, or prepping land for a prescribed fire. The workshop type and location will be announced the week before the date. The workshops are free but you need to register. Wilderness First Aid Course, Saturday & Sunday, 3/7&8, 8:30AM - 5:30PM both days This 16-hour WFA covers treatments for various injuries, illnesses, and environment related hazards that may occur while working or playing in the outdoors. In addition to engaging, hands-on training, students receive an OSHA approved First Aid/CPR/AED certification, WFA/WFR-R certification, and a Cal-EMSA Epi Auto-Injector Certification. EMTs and Paramedics receive 16 hours of CEUs. Provider #34-4980.
