The NCRCD/NRCS staff provides free assistance to many private landowners on:
Erosion Control - Wildlife Improvement - Pond Management - Pasture & Orchard Management
- Invasive Weed Control - Rangeland & Forestry Health Improvement - Fuels Management – and many others.
NCRCD collaborates with federal, state and local agencies to encourage forest health practices. In 2004 developed a Shaded Fuel Break project area to add protection to the cities of Grass Valley and Nevada City as well as surrounding communities. We have developed a multi-regional seminar series to show the public what is involved in livestock production and grazing, highlighting the benefits to wildlife and the environment. Our Bear River watershed grant helps to promote watershed health, improve water quality and assist in removing and controlling non-native invasive plant species. In addition, we sponsor educational and outreach events such as Conservationist of the Year, Arbor Day, River Clean-up Day, Speak-off Contest, Range Camp, Scotch Broom Challenge and various workshops throughout the year.
