Position of Watershed Coordinator
Nevada County Resource Conservation District
Nevada County Resource Conservation District is accepting applications for the position of Watershed Coordinator. This shall be a professional and technical position under the direction of the NCRCD District Manager. The Watershed Coordinator will be a key member of a professional team that manages a 100% grant funded program of watershed coordination for the Bear River Watersheds.
Position will be full time, up to three year term, year round. Person is expected to work a minimum of a forty hour work week and there is no overtime under this FLSA job classification. Salary range depending on experience and qualifications is between $45,000- 48,000 annually plus full benefits including medical, dental insurance and CalPers retirement. Position is based at the NCRCD Office, 113 Presley Way, Ste #1, Grass Valley, CA and will involve some travel and overnight stays. There will be some weekend work. NCRCD is a drug-free work environment.
Primary Watershed Coordinator duties are according to the Watershed Coordinator grant work plan under the direction of the NCRCD District Manager. (see www.ncrcd.org.) Duties include administrative responsibilities, report writing, grant writing, leadership with the Bear River Watershed Group and Nevada County RCD at local, regional and state meetings, develop agendas and conduct meetings, coordinate stakeholders on watershed issues, development, coordination and facilitation of watershed projects and events (mostly outlined in the grant work plan but not limited to). Work closely with private landowners in the Bear River Watershedto recommend and assist in the implementation of best management practices. Develop relationships and increase communication and collaboration with various local, state, and federal agencies, private landowners, and public and private groups.
Minimum qualifications:
Ø Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ø At least one year of experience in related professions.
Ø Excellent computer skills (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
Ø B.S degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Range or Forest Science and other related degrees to the position
Additional desirable qualifications:. Experience in watershed projects, CEQA/NEPA documentation, leadership and good public speaking skills, grant writing and basic GIS skills.
